Sweet Dream Zadie

Hi. I'm Joanne. I'm a stay at home mother living in Brooklyn, wife to my darling husband Nate, aka super-dad extraordinaire. We love music, good food, old things, and adventures. Together, we're raising Zadie May, our sweet little daughter who's been rocking our world since 2010.

Can’t Live Without

There are a few things that I find I cannot live without now that I’m a new mom.

  1. Boppy Pillow - I use this morning, noon, and mid-afternoon, and night, and really late night.  I have a long torso so it’s a must have item for me to breastfeed more comfortably.
  2. Glider - We have a Dutalier glider, not a very expensive one, but it does the job and it’s not too hideous.  Ours is gray with dark wood.  The glider has saved my back.  I tried breastfeeding from bed, from every chair in my apartment and the couch, and nothing was working for me.  Make sure you get one with arms so you can rest your arms or the boppy on them.  I’m telling you, it made a world of difference!
  3. My iphone - seriously.  It is always within arm’s reach and I use it to help pass the time while I’m breastfeeding.  I catch up on the tumblr, check facebook, email friends, check the weather, play silly games (Robot Unicorn Attack!), keep track of how long I breastfeed, take photos of Zadie, watch videos, etc, etc.  It makes those 3AM nursing sessions go by in a flash.
  4. Newborn Rock and Play - Zadie loves to sleep in this.  It’s great because we can put this anywhere in our small Brooklyn apartment and it’s portable.  We brought this to Vermont and Baltimore - much easier and smaller than a pack ‘n play.
  5. Bugaboo Bee Stroller - Nate, Zadie and I all love this stroller.  It’s lightweight - great for parents who live in a two floor walkup.  It’s narrow - perfect for weaving in and out of people on the sidewalk or tiny aisles in small stores.  It reclines all the way and is safe for new babies who can’t hold their heads up yet.  You can also snap-in a Graco car seat.  We’ve done that a few times and it works great.  Love love love our Bee.
  6. Aden + Anais Muslin blankets - these are a must have.  They are soft, lightweight, and perfect for swaddling your little sweet pea.  I also use them to drape over the stroller when the sun is shining on Zadie and as a cover-up if I’m breastfeeding in public or in front of guests.
